BD Joins the Race to Zero: Largest Alliance Dedicated to Achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2050

BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a leading global medical technology company and Sustainable Healthcare Coalition member, has signed on to the Race to Zero [https://racetozero.unfccc.int/] via the most ambitious Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the Business Ambition for 1.5⁰C.

The Business Ambition for 1.5⁰C was established in 2019 in response to the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), warning that global warming must not exceed 1.5°C if we are to avoid the most catastrophic impacts of climate change. It calls for all members to pledge to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 by setting 1.5⁰C science targets.

“We are committed to using our scale and influence to help address climate change and its effect on our environment and health systems around the world,” said Tom Polen, chairman, CEO and president, BD.

BD also joins other Sustainable Healthcare Coalition member companies that have signed on to the Race to Zero and have helped the Coalition become recognised as a Race to Zero Accelerator.
