Care Pathways Assessment

The care pathway assessment guidance should be used to incorporate sustainability into decision-making when designing new care pathways or to understand sustainability considerations when optimising existing care pathways.

The guidance has been developed to enable users to understand the sustainability of new or existing models of care and ultimately to improve the sustainability of health systems. By applying the guidance, a user will gain a greater understanding of the environmental impacts of health services, with both the direct impacts and those expressed across the whole care pathway being investigated.

The guidance can be used to educate, to inform decision-making and ultimately to deliver more effective health systems.
